The Los Altos Arts & Wine Festival returns to beautiful Downtown Los Altos on Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12. From 10am to 6pm each day, Downtown Los Altos transforms into the most colorful, creative, delicious block party in the Bay Area. This milestone edition is a double celebration: we’re honoring the extraordinary artists whose work fills the festival from end to end — and raising a glass to the murals, sculptures, and permanent works of art that make Downtown Los Altos one of the most vibrant, beautiful neighborhoods around, all year long. Come for the art. Stay for everything else.

It all started back in 1979, when a small, scrappy gathering of local business owners decided to do something special in the heart of downtown. Fast-forward nearly five decades, and that little idea has grown into something truly spectacular. Today, the Los Altos Arts & Wine Festival boasts more than 250 artist and craft booths, nine wineries and distilleries, two food courts, four stages of live entertainment, and the all-new CulturAsia area. Every year, this beloved event is proudly presented by the Los Altos Village Association (LAVA) — a non-profit membership organization founded in 1963 by local merchants and property owners, dedicated to making Downtown Los Altos the best possible place to shop, dine, explore, and discover. Ever wondered how the festival curates such a remarkable lineup of artists year after year? Since 2006, Pacific Fine Arts (PFA) of Pine Grove, CA has been the magic behind that curtain. Owners Dana and Troy Hale-Mounier, working hand-in-hand with LAVA’s Arts & Wine Festival Committee, bring an irresistible mix of painting, sculpture, jewelry, photography, handcrafted goods, and pure creativity to every corner of the festival. Think of it as a treasure hunt — around every turn, there’s something that catches your eye, speaks to your heart, or finds its way home with you. That perfect piece is out there waiting. The music? Oh, the music. Festival weekend practically has its own soundtrack. Each day, the Star One Credit Union Main Stage in Central Plaza and the Community Stage in Veterans Community Plaza keep the energy up from morning to evening — toe-tapping, dancing-in-your-sandals, best-day-ever kind of energy. And the weekend’s crowning musical moment? The LAVA-sponsored Saturday night concert featuring The Houserockers, rocking the Main Stage from 5 to 7 p.m. Trust us — you’re going to want to be there for that one.

Bringing the whole crew? The KidZone Stage — nestled near the center of the festival at State and Fourth Streets — is pure, joyful chaos in the best possible way. Beloved longtime emcees Lori and RJ have a gift for getting kids off their feet and onto the dance floor, no persuasion required. The surrounding area is packed with family-friendly activities organized by local non-profit organizations, so parents and little ones alike can get involved, play, and make some genuine memories. This is what a community festival is all about.

Whether you’re a dedicated wine enthusiast, a cocktail adventurer, or a craft beer devotee — the festival has your glass covered. Eight boutique wineries pour and share their finest varietals, with knowledgeable representatives on hand to walk you through every sip. Feeling spirited? Two spirits vendors serve up locally inspired cocktails and mocktails that are fun for everyone, drinkers and non-drinkers alike. And beer lovers can explore popular brands alongside selections from local craft breweries at the beer booths. Something for everyone — that’s the Downtown Los Altos way.

Before you pour, grab your glass! Commemorative beer and wine glasses — genuine keepsakes you’ll reach for at home long after the festival wraps — are available at any of the five glassware booths throughout the festival. Your glass purchase also comes with a “proof of drinking age” wristband, which is required before any alcohol is served. Heading out for lunch or to rest up, then coming back? Keep that wristband on — no need to re-verify when you return later that day or the next.

None of this happens without extraordinary community generosity. According to Scott Hunter, LAVA’s Executive Director, the festival’s success is powered in meaningful part by its sponsors — and he wants to make sure they know how appreciated they truly are. Prefer to ride? Rideshare pick-up and drop-off is conveniently located on Edith Avenue, right next to the shade and beauty of Village Park — a lovely spot to decompress between adventures. One gentle reminder: your furry friends will have to sit this one out at home. We love them, but the festival is their weekend off too!
